What To Expect During A Sleep Study
A confirmation letter verifying your appointment will be sent to you approximately 1 week before your study.
When preparing for your sleep study, please remember:
- If possible, do not nap in the afternoon before your study
- Bring your medications with you
- Avoid caffeinated beverages the afternoon and evening before your study
- Bring your own nightclothes, robe and toiletries with you
- Do not wear nail polish
- If you have special dietary requirements, please tell your technologist
Free parking is available in the Emergency Department lot. The sleep study should last about 8 hours.
Following Your Study
After the study, the sleep technician will escort you back to the main lobby area and direct you to where your transportation awaits. Before leaving, you will be scheduled for a follow-up appointment with your physician to review the complete results of your sleep study and to discuss further treatment recommendations. Based on the results of the study, additional testing may be required.
You will be billed for the sleep study by Brandywine Hospital and you will receive a second bill for the physician's services. Most major insurance companies cover these services. Please check with your insurer to see if coverage is available for these services.
All results and information regarding your sleep will be kept confidential and shared only with you and your referring physician.
If you have any questions regarding your sleep study, please contact the Brandywine Hospital Sleep Wellness Center at 1-800-753-3779, Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
