Can I talk to my loved one while he/she is in ICU?
We encourage talking with your loved one while he or she is in ICU. Speak normally, but remember that the patient may not be able to respond. Speak with the ICU nurses to find out the best way to communicate with your loved one.
Can I touch my loved one?
Touching can be comforting and reassuring. Please ask an ICU nurse if you're nervous about accidentally touching medical equipment. They can point you in the right direction.
How long should I visit?
We always encourage patients' families are to visit their loved ones. However, due to the critical nature of a patient's condition, we ask that you allow them time to get adequate rest. We also encourage you to get the rest you need to support your loved one. If you have any questions or concerns, please consult the ICU nurse on duty.
