Interventional Radiology

Our Interventional Radiology department provides both diagnostic and therapeutic services. They can treat and diagnose a wide range of medical conditions. The interventional department uses a variety of imaging techniques including fluoroscopy, ultrasound and CT to perform their procedures. Many times, tools such as stents or filters are inserted into the body in order to treat a disease. Interventional Radiology can be an alternative to a surgical procedure in order to treat a patient, and can even eliminate the need for a hospital stay in some cases. Biopsies are also performed in the Interventional department. Angiography, an x-ray showing the blood vessels in the body, is also performed in the interventional suite. If a blockage is seen by the radiologist during the exam, in many cases it can be treated immediately.
