About This Location

Living with an eating disorder is a serious stress for the individual and family. In the course of our program, we help participants and families find better ways of managing symptoms and discover the issues that underlie and sustain the disorder.

The Eating Disorders Program at Brandywine Hospital offers:

  • Individualized approach in an attractive and supportive environment
  • One of the most experienced treatment teams in the nation
  • Round-the-clock nursing support
  • 24/7 access to physicians
  • Individual therapy three times per week with masters or doctoral level clinician
  • Family therapy twice per week with doctoral level family specialist
  • Daily group programming including cognitive and dialectical behavioral approaches
  • Psychiatric management daily
  • Experiential therapy with art, music, and movement modalities
  • Individual nutritional counseling, education, meal planning, and supervision (can accommodate Kosher & vegetarian diets)
  • Off-unit meals and activities
  • Recreational programming including supervised exercise as appropriate
  • Educational support for middle and high school students in our classroom with support from an accredited teacher
  • Consultations with medical specialists as needed
  • Spiritual support (Resources are available to support all denominations and Christian counseling is available)
  • Program covered by most commercial insurance plans, Medicare and some Medicaid plans
